WorshipGod08 Registration Now Open

We had to work through a few bugs to get the registration open today. Thanks for your patience.

Now that it’s open, here are a few things to remember as you register:

  • You have to choose your five seminars at the time of registration (out of the 45 that are offered). Seminar descriptions can be downloaded at the “Who Should Attend” page and the registration form.
  • Groups can register individuals at the lowest price. So if you have a student who is part of your group, they can pay the student rate.
  • Bring as many people from your team as possible. That will enable you to attend more seminars, keep everyone on the same page, and enjoy some great fellowship.
  • Whenever possible, pastors should attend with their worship leaders, for the reasons I just cited in the previous point.
  • Set up this blog on your RSS feed to keep track of updates, interviews, and important information.
  • The cheapest time to register for the conference is before April 1. At that time all prices go up $25.
  • Administrative questions about the conference should be sent to worshipconference@sovgracemin.org.

Please let us know if you have any needs, questions, or comments. We look forward to interacting even before the conference starts.

Hi there. I’ll be travelling from Dubai, UAE to be at the conference, (I’m a British expat). My family will be coming with me (husband and three kids ages 5,10, 11), but they won’t be attending the conference. Any suggestions as to how my husband might entertain the kids would be helpful. We will have a hire car.
Thanks
By the way, the seminars sound great – just in a real dilemma as to what not to attend.

Hi Bob,
I’ve heard wonderful things about your previous conferences. I’m really looking forward to it!
Regarding group registration, can each person register on their own or does it have it be done all at once? (as long as Church name is same?) And if we can register separately, could we all register at different times (say if one gets in during Super Early and another gets in at Regular) as long as we total at least 5 ppl?
Complicated question, I know. I’m working on gathering as many ppl as possible but want to get the early discount for those who definitely want to go.
Thanks!

Maria,

Glad you’re planning on coming and bringing people with you!

Groups have to be registered at the same time. Also, you have to know everyone’s seminar choices when you sign them up. Thanks for asking.

Will you be recording the seminars? This would be a great solution in those instances where I am interested in a session that is running concurrently with another one for which I’ve signed up.

This will be my first time attending and I’m so looking forward to it. Everyone I know who has attended in the past has said it’s been an awesome conference and they were really blessed.

Bob,

I love the topic for this year. I should have sent this email earlier when you called for session topics.

As a worship leader who tries to use read scripture a lot in worship, I particularly struggle with the imprecatory psalms and the ways that large portions of the psalms are calling down judgment on enemies and asking for justice. I can’t help but read them with an eye to my own sinfulness – apart from Christ, I’M the enemy of God, after all. Plus, the warfare images are often difficult as our minds rush to crusades and jihad. Compound that with a sense that there has been a tremendous but unclear shift in the nature of these passages because of the work of Christ and the embrace of the gentiles.

Out of my concern over how to lead our church through these readings, I am particularly hopeful that this issue will be discussed at length. I would like to come away from the conference with a view of these psalms that is better informed by the gospel and a practical handle on how these difficult psalms can be put to application in our corporate worship as well as in my own reading.

What can I look forward to on this aspect of the Psalms?

Drew,

Great idea for a topic. While there wont be a specific teaching on the imprecatory psalms at the conference, that topic will be covered in a number of the teachings. On Friday night, I’ll be leading a night called “Praising God with the Psalmist.” During that time, I’m planning on referencing the imprecatory Psalms and how they might apply to our corporate worship today. I know that other speakers will reference them as well.

Look forward to having you here!

I have never been to the conference. My pastor, Dennis Gundersen, my wife, the main worship leader at our church (and his whole family, 5 kids) are coming. I am really looking forward to it. We are not charismatic and hope that you guys don’t shake us up too much (that’s a joke, son). I have never listened to contemporary Christian music on the raido (still don’t – always has seemed like a cheap imitation of the real thing). However, about two years ago discovered SG music through our pastor. I am now very interested in good contemporary, reform minded Christian music. I have no musical training but lead in worship anyway (we are a small church, and I sing loudly). We have an enthusiastic congregation that also loves to exalt the Lord in song. I am looking forward to learning how I can improve on what we are currently doing. We are blessed with terrific unity on our worship team which is certainly due to the grace of God working through our humble and loving pastor Dennis.

Bob,

I was just thumbing through the new Worship Leader Magazine today, looking to see if there was an ad for Worship God 08. Indeed, there is and a full page description of the conference next to it. Nice. I pray God uses it to inform many worship pastors of this great opportunity to grow. I know I plan on bringing several from my church along with me. We’re really looking forward to it.

Now that Extreme Early Bird registration time is upon us, I was curious to know if ALL the seminars will be available on mp3 cd after the event. There are multiple seminars offered at each time slot that members of my team would like to attend, but certain seminars may be more beneficial live (i.e. The Art of Mixing or one of the instrumentalist foundations seminars). Just trying to make informed decisions…

Aaron,

All the seminars won’t be recorded, but the instrumentalist foundations seminars most likely will be. I’m not sure that the Art of Mixing will be recorded. We’re going to try to have as many recorded as possible.
